Research Interests

Energy efficient dense heterogeneous cellular networks (HetNets), 5G cellular technologies, UAV-based cellular systems, machine learning applications in wireless networks, environmental monitoring, IoT, and rural broadband connectivity.

Background

Dr. Edwin Mugume is a Lecturer in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Makerere University and a Senior Researcher with netLabs!UG. His doctoral research focused on energy efficient deployment strategies for future highly dense heterogeneous cellular networks, and his broader work spans 5G technologies, energy harvesting strategies, and stochastic geometry approaches to wireless network analysis. He has industry experience in radio frequency planning and optimization of mobile cellular networks.
